Admissions

 Under the current arrangements the LEA requires parents to make a new application for admission to the main school’s Reception Class even if the child already has a place in the Nursery.

Reception (Primary) Admissions

For admission to the Reception Class parents will receive information from the Admissions Department at County Hall approximately one year before the expected year of admission. Parents are encouraged to apply on-line at www.hertfordshire.gov.uk/admissions.  You can request an application form from the Admissions Department at Hertfordshire County Council if you are unable to apply on line.  The Admissions Department at County Hall process the applications and inform parents of their allocated school on-line and by post.

The applications process opens on 1st November 2022, and the deadline for applications is Sunday 15th January 2023.  Please ensure that applications are made before the deadline as you are unlikely to be offered a place at your preferred school if you apply late

In the Reception Class, children are admitted in September in the school year in which they have their fifth birthday.

Thursday 10th November 2022 at 1.30pm

Monday 12th December 2022 at 9.30am

In order that parents have a full opportunity to meet the Head Teacher and ask questions, we are limiting the number of people attending each date so please phone the school office on 01920 464135 or email admin@priorswood.herts.sch.uk to book a place on your preferred date.

For admission to the current Nursery class, parents will need to apply directly to the school office.  Please find attached the Nursery Application Form for Nursery places for September 2023.  

 Nursery children are admitted to the Nursery in one intake.

In year admission appeals will be heard within 30 school days of the appeal being lodged. 

Appellants (the person who made the appeal) will be sent notification of their appeal hearing at least 10 school days in advance of the hearing (unless you've been requested to agree shorter timescales).

Appellants will be sent a copy of the school's case 7 working days in advance of the hearing.

Appeals lodged after the deadline will be heard 40 school days of the appeal deadline of 30 school days of being lodged - which ever is the later date.

If your appeal is heard during the autumn or spring term, we'll normally inform you of the result within 5 working days from your hearing.

During the summer term, decisions can take much longer because many appeal hearings take place then. Schools may have several days of appeals hearings. We'll write to you within a few days of the decision being made, notifying you of the outcome. We'll follow this up around 2 weeks later with the reasons for the panel's decision.

In-year Admissions

 For admissions to all other years parents contact Hertfordshire County Council on 0300 123 4043. The admissions team at HCC will allocate a place at a school of parents’ choice.  If there are no vacancies at any of the schools chosen by parents a place at the nearest school with a vacancy will be offered.
