About Us

Priors Wood Primary was built in 1968. It is situated in a pleasing location in a quiet residential neighbourhood, on the north-east side of Ware and overlooks attractive countryside. The single storey, well maintained buildings are surrounded by playing fields and grassed areas with trees and shrub beds. There is a variety of outdoor play equipment for the children, and two wooden pergolas provide shelter both for children and adults waiting to collect them at the end of the day.

Both Nursery and Reception classes have safe outdoor areas. The whole school site is surrounded by secure fencing.

The school grounds have been designated for the study of wildlife and the environment. As a school we are committed to outdoor educational provision to enhance the children's learning whenever possible.

Priors Wood is a one form entry Primary School with approximately 230 pupils. There are eight classes taught as separate age groups, two Foundation Stage (Reception and Nursery) two Key Stage 1 (Years 1 & 2) and four Key Stage 2, (Years 3, 4, 5 & 6), with a maximum class size of 30 children.

The Nursery Class  can offer morning (9-12), afternoon (12-3) or whole day (9-3) sessions.

There are eight spacious and bright classrooms, an attractive, light and airy hall, dining room, reading libraries and a central Reference Library. In addition, there are rooms for Music, Cookery and IT, and a central resources and group work area.

Visitors to the school will see a well-maintained interior, with high quality displays of children’s work and achievements covering all curriculum areas.
